Aschaffenburg , 9^th February 2012 – For KAUP GmbH & Co. KG (KAUP) – one of the world’s leading manufacturers of forklift truck attachments, container spreaders and stationary material handling equipment - the year 2012 marks a jubilee year. The medium-sized family enterprise based in Aschaffenburg celebrated its 50^th birthday on the 1^st of January this year. Starting with just 5 employees, today approx. 700 people are employed world wide and the company is managed by the forth generation of the KAUP family.

“We are extremely proud of KAUP’s development in the past 50 years” commented Holger Kaup, one of the Managing Directors of the company, on the special event. “We also know that, without the decades-long trust of our customers in our attachments, we would not have had this success”, commented Kaup further. He hopes that the confidence shown in the company will continue in future as, “we want to add several more chapters to the company’s successful history”.

Customer requirements have always been the focus of KAUP’s attention

To this aim, the Aschaffenburg based company set the target to continue providing customized solutions to their customers in a short period of time. In this undertaking KAUP can depend on well trained and motivated employees in design, production, marketing and service departments. “We are proud that we have so many experienced and long-term employees who stand by KAUP even in turbulent times” explained the Managing Director. To ensure this remains the case in future the company continues to set their trust in their own young trainees. Currently 40 young people are completing an industrial or commercial apprenticeship at KAUP.

A challenge for the future

Competitive conditions for attachments have changed drastically in the last 50 years. However KAUP looks to expand their strong market position, convincing old and new customers of their products. The company has been purposefully made fit for the future during recent years. Gradually responsibility has been distributed across several shoulders, increased investments in research and development have been made and marketing activities at home and abroad intensified. Thanks to a strengthened international focus and simultaneous intensive support in the domestic market KAUP stands to-day on a strong foundation.

KAUP GmbH & Co. KG was established in Leider, a suburb of Aschaffenburg. A village blacksmith’s shop founded in 1894, which specialised in the repairs of inland ships and cranes, is the forerunner of the present company.

Since 1962 KAUP GmbH & Co. KG has developed, under the motto „Helping hands for your Forklift Truck“ in to one of the worlds leading suppliers of forklift truck attachments, stationary equipment and container spreaders. Today the company manufactures, with around 700 employees, approximately 40.000 units annually and last year (2011) achieved a turnover of approx. 83 Mio. EUR.

KAUP works closely together with all forklift truck manufacturers and dealers, who market their trucks fitted with our attachments. Attachments are manufactured in Aschaffenburg and in Xiamen, China.

The company is represented in 33 countries with nine subsidiaries and 19 independent distributors. All other countries are dealt with directly by the Export Department at Head Office who also support the representatives.
