Producer of protective clothing

KAUP Pallet Turnover Clamps can be used and adapted for very different handling tasks. One possibility: Emptying transport containers, as in this application.

Rotating clamp turns octabin

So-called octabins are octagonal containers. They are used for the transport and storage of bulk goods such as granulates and other free-flowing products. Usually made of sturdy corrugated board, these containers have a base and a removable lid. In this application, the octabin contains synthetic granulates for the production of protective clothing. The special challenge for production: absolutely no foreign substances may be 'mixed in' from the outside. For this purpose, the end user has developed an 'attachment' including a release slide. It enables the granules to be fed into the production machine in a dosed manner during the production process. Dirt cannot enter from the outside.

The handling process:

The KAUP attachment used is a Pallet Turnover Clamp T451W. The special feature here is that two double forks are used for handling. In this application, one double fork picks up the pallet with a full octabin. The second one holds the 'attachment', which is placed on the granulate container. Once the octabin and 'attachment' are correctly placed, the T451W moves together with both double forks and clamps. The whole package is then rotated 180 degrees (or more). The release slide of the 'attachment' is now above the floor and the unloading process can begin. When the octabin is emptied, the process is reversed and the clamp is opened.

Safety gain: If the 'attachment' is not lifted sufficiently and is still partially on the octabin, a mechanical hook ensures that 'the attachment' cannot slip off the double forks. Only when the octabin and 'attachment' have been completely moved apart, and the device has been correctly placed on the ground for unloading, does the safety hook open. The implement can drive out of the attachment.
