LogiMAT 2023: KAUP electrifies its attachments

Aschaffenburg, 21 March 2023 – The upcoming LogiMAT will set the stage for three innovations from KAUP GmbH & Co. KG (KAUP). The groundbreaking development being introduced involves the most important functions of the presented attachments - Sideshifter, Double Pallet Handler and Rotator - being electrically driven and not requiring any hydraulic components. As a further highlight, over the course of the three days of the fair, visitors will be able to control the three attachments and see them in action. Building on the world's first electric fork positioner, which KAUP presented in Stuttgart half a decade ago, with these innovations the machine builder is comprehensively expanding its range of electric attachments.

This year's LogiMAT will focus on sustainability and energy efficiency, which are also currently key issues for KAUP. "With this in mind, we have worked steadfastly over the past few years to electrify our attachments," says Managing Director Holger Kaup, adding, "we are convinced that electrically driven attachments are a more than logical addition to hydraulic attachments." The entrepreneur anticipates that "against the background of the automation of numerous logistics processes, their importance will increase in the coming years."

e-op – The new generation of attachments

LogiMAT will also see KAUP introduce the corresponding designation for its innovative attachments. The short suffix "e-op" (for electrically operated) will be added to the type designations of all the machine builder's electrical attachments with immediate effect. In Stuttgart, the exhibition attachments will therefore already bear the designations 1.7T151e-op (Sideshifter), 1.5T429e-op (Double Pallet Handler) and 1T351e-op (Rotator).

The benefits of KAUP electric attachments

Several factors speak in support of the use of electric attachments. The most obvious benefit lies in the fact that the e-op series does not require any hydraulics, and no oil either. Certainly a gain when it comes to cleanliness. The second factor is the drive systems’ energy efficiency. All the KAUP electric attachments require only a fraction of the energy needed by their hydraulic counterparts, even though they are based on the same basic components from the KAUP modular system.

Further benefits of the e-op attachments from KAUP:

  • Precision
e-op attachments allow the precise positioning of forks and rotators for accurately placing loads – whether via the autonomous control of the attachment or the control of the industrial truck.
  • Monitoring
How many operating hours has the attachment already been used for? What load patterns did the unit transport? Are there any disruptions in the handling process? These and numerous other questions can be answered by means of the individually definable monitoring of the e-op attachments.
  • Flexibility
No matter whether a driverless transport system, forklift truck, high lift truck or plant constructor and automator: e-op attachments from KAUP can be combined with all known industrial trucks or used in the implementation of automated solutions.
  • Safety
Numerous features such as redundant function monitoring and an emergency stop switch etc. always ensure safe operation of the attachments.
