Modern Enerji relies in its modern power plant complex in Corlu on a KAUP Rotating Fork Positioner.
Turning paper into electricity
Modern Enerji operates a modern power plant complex in Corlu - about 100 kilometers west of Istanbul - which was connected to the grid in 2014. Three separately erected reactors produce more than 100 MW electricity and 295 t/h steam energy - i.e. heat - out of natural gas, water and waste paper obtained from the surrounding paper and corrugated paper mills.
During the production process of electricity and heat large metal containers (see above photo on the right hand side) filled with waste paper must be picked up, turned and emptied. Modern Enerji therefore requires attachments with sufficient capacity for internal transportation.
While looking for a solution to their requirements Modern Enerji, once again, chose a KAUP attachment. Worth mentioning is the rotating Fork Positioner in the T456 range. This robust attachment combines two KAUP product families: Rotators and Fork Positioners.
For the operation in Turkey the rotating Fork Positioner has an endless rotating range of 360°, a torque of 56.000 Nm and can carry a load of more than eleven tons on the forks.
An opening range of up to 1.200 mm (measured between the inner sides of the forks) enables pick up of the above mentioned metal containers. The forks can be smoothly adapted as necessary. Once they are in the correct position the metal containers can be turned and emptied. Perfectly designed and combined with a Kalmar forklift truck, the KAUP attachment is entirely suitable for the operation at Modern Enerji in Çorlu.
The company Modern Enerji Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. (Modern Enerji) is part of the energy division of the Turkish Eren-Group, which is also active in the construction, textile and tourist industries. The company, based near Istanbul, produces electricity and heat from gas and different kinds of recycled materials.
