Powerful paper roll handling
Fork Positioner, Pallet Turnover Clamp, Bale Clamp, Rotating Fork Clamp – it sounds like an extract from the KAUP product range but actually is a list of some of the attachments in use at Siegfried Kraus GmbH & Co. KG (Siegfried Kraus). Because the 24 fork lift trucks in operation in Hasselroth in Hesse, not far from Frankfurt am Main, on a 14,000 m² site also need the appropriate attachments after all. And those are exclusively KAUP machines. "The quality is simply the best", is how the Managing Director, Markus Kraus, explains his exclusive decision for KAUP attachments. "Well, why do I need to try something else or experiment?", Markus Kraus continues. Because "we regularly really get down to business here and then you need solid material." Here is Markus Kraus' company – a waste paper and waste material operation as well as a trader and producer of paper rolls and cut paper all in one. For this, the energetic owner needs a variety of attachments. After all, at Siegfried Kraus an average of 4,000 tonnes of paper per month are moved.
Not yet referred to in the list: Rotating Roll Clamps from the T458B range. Siegfried Kraus has recently started using two of them. Alongside a small version, the business can also boast of a first and can call a 6T458B their own. What sounds quite bland is, in fact, the largest Roll Clamp in the current range that KAUP has ever built. A premiere so to speak.
"The clamp is simply powerful"
Markus Kraus speaks completely enthused by his new purchase: "When the big Roll Clamp gets involved, nothing shifts out of place." And that is how it should be, because in Hasselroth, rolls of paper weighing up to 5.0 tonnes are transported. For this purpose, the Roll Clamps have a load capacity of 5,500 kg at a load centre of 900 mm and a suitable opening range for roll diameters of 400 mm to 1,800 mm. But as well as the weight, the state of the rolls can be challenging. For Siegfried Kraus has specialised in the purchase and sale of paper rolls of various qualities, formats and surfaces. These paper rolls are partially in their original packaging but also arrive unpackaged, and in that case the attachment must not cause damage either when receiving or dispatching. For this, the T458B at Siegfried Kraus has four pressure plates with appropriate shapes.
A second pillar of the medium-sized company is recycling of damaged paper rolls. Their handling can be even more challenging than transporting undamaged rolls. Why? Large-format paper rolls are sent for recycling for many different reasons. For example, water damage or defective cores are common causes. But they make handling more difficult as the forklift driver does not know whether the roll can be evenly clamped due to the damage. However, the Rotating Roll Clamp from KAUP in use at Siegfried Kraus is also ready for this. Because it has four hydraulically adjustable clamping arms that adapt to the roll. In this way, even deformed paper rolls can be transport securely.
Long-lasting quality
And something else speaks for the Rotating Roll Clamp from KAUP: the long lifetime that is expected. Markus Kraus also looks forward to this: "The KAUP devices are simply durable and keep going for many years - even when we treat them hard here." For this, his 6T458B has various replaceable wear-off bars and wearing parts, optimized pin retainers and cylinders with integrated check valves. "And if anything does happen, the KAUP Service helps", explains Kraus, the paper professional.
